Some natural remedies to treat joint pain

What is joint pain?

Discomfort, aches and soreness in any joint of the body is known as the joint pain. Generally, joint pain is a very common problem and almost everyone is suffering from some kind of joint pain. It typically doesn’t require a visit to the hospital. But, ignoring the joint pain can cause some serious health related problems.

Causes of joint pain:

There are a variety of causes of joint pain. One of the most common causes of joint pain is arthritis. There are some other causes like infectious diseases like influenza, hepatitis, and mumps. Injury, inflammation of tendons, breakdown of cartilage, gout, bursitis, older age, overuse of joints due to due to performing repetitive movements, poor posture, injuries, trauma, some kind of autoimmune disorder, muscle pains etc.


Treatment of joint pain:

Types of treatment vary person to person and severity of the symptoms. Different types of drugs are used to different types of joint pains, but change in the lifestyle is the most important treatment of any kind of joint pain. It is very important to bring a good change in the lifestyle if you want to get rid of your joint pain. There are some drugs which can reduce the pain but they can’t properly treat the joint pain. Some popular drugs like aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen are generally used to treat the joint pain. In case if the pain is very strong and is not controlling with these drugs, doctors prefer to prescribe nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). In some rare and complex cases, antidepressants and antiepileptic drugs are also used. These drugs do not stop the pain, they only block the painful signals in the body and stop muscle spasm contributing to pain. These medications can improve the life to some extent, but they need to be used very carefully as they can trigger some other problems due to their reactive ability.

Natural remedies don’t have any kind of bad effects on the body and they naturally improve the joints. Some of the remedies are:

Epsom Salt Soak:

This is an excellent remedy for joint pains. It is very effective in any kind of muscle pain as well. Epsom Slat is high in magnesium and sulfates. They are absorbed easily by the skin and provide quick relief to the joint. People suffering with any kind of joint pain can take a relaxing bath with Epsom salts. Constant use of Epsom Salt can permanently cure the joint pain.

Hot and cold packs:

This is a traditional way to cure joint pain and is being successfully adopted since a long time.  Apply a hot gel pack to the affected area for half an hour and alternate it with the cold pack as well. Stiffness of the muscle can sometime cause pain in the joints and this hot-cold application can reduce the stiffness and hence the joint pain.

Change in diet:

The long-term treatment of joint pain is to change in diet. Omega-3 fatty acids are very effective to reduce joint pains, food like cold-water fish, chia seeds, and walnuts are high in omega-3 fatty acids and can be very handy to reduce joint pains.
